First Pet Portrait

My first stab at a sketch for a pet portrait. I'm happy with the sketch which I'll provide to the client today. To finish it I may develop the sketch itself rather than starting over. I will probably be adding a little more detail into the fur on the snout and the lower jaw and the area around the right ear.

Its challenging to simplify the shadows and color areas into blocks of color without the work becoming too flat.

Its simple and I've kept the overall value structure much lighter than the photo, but I think it captures her well.
