Painting Process

Real-time pictures showing my painting process. Although I prefer to work from field sketches, I'm working from a photograph of the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. Preparation for my July 28th show in neighboring Ocean Grove. Here is the reference photo:

Here is where I am this morning - I've created a quick, but careful pencil drawing of the facade. I masked out the top of the building and washed in a rich blue of aquamarine and Prussian blues. I've worked in the blue-green colors, a combo of cerulean and permanent green.

Next steps will be to work in the slightly yellow tones of the brick work.
