Tulips

Still under the weather today - but what better way to cheer up than capture some tulips. This is a style of working that I learned from a good friend in Maine - Virginia Forrest. She's finishing up a show of her work at the Alewives Gallery if your in Maine this weekend: http://www.alewivesgallery.com/quilting_show_wmv.htm

The delicate shapes and contours of the flowers and leaves were lost when I moved from the line drawing to the painting so I put them back in with pen and ink. I like the stained glass quality that seems to go well with the color palette. I also like the simplicity of the shapes - a quality I'd like to capture in more of my work.
