Twin Lights, North Tower

Situated 200 feet above sea level atop the Navesink Highlands, Twin Lights has stood as a sentinel over the treacherous coastal waters of northern New Jersey since 1828. As the primary seacoast light for New York Harbor, it was the brightest light on the Atlantic Coast. The current lighthouse was built in 1862 of local brownstone. Architect Joseph Lederle designed the structure with two non-identical towers. This unique design made it easy to distinguish Twin Lights from other nearby lighthouses.

This image is of the north tower, which is accessible to the public. I rode my bike up here a couple of summers ago - quite a hill to ride to get up to the lighthouse. Its really a cool place to visit - has a giant fresnel lens in the barn.

I actually like your clouds better than the ones in the photo - they have a nice moodiness.

Missed you at the Drawing Salon tonight!
