Animal portraits - i'm getting into my colored pencils a little more. I was trying to capture the gray/blue of the fur on the side of Angus' face by overlaying several pale colors but it seems to have gotten too dark a blue. Its just an experiment for now.

And I don't think the blue is too dark at all - it just means that the rest of the drawing is going to need to intensify, since the photo has all those rich saturated tones. But I think the corresponding part on Angus's cheek was captured really well. And I like the linework a lot - it definitely works well with the fur, much the way I was trying to get it to do so with my Magpie's feathers.
And yeah, animal portraits - we're in sync!
